Welcome to the Dean’s Office
The Dean’s Office is committed to maintaining a safe, structured, and positive school culture. We work with students, families, and staff to support behavior, attendance, dress code expectations, and overall student success.
School Culture & Student Success
Our Philosophy
At Sebastian Middle School, we believe every student can be successful when expectations are clear, support is available, and relationships are strong. Through consistent expectations, positive reinforcement, and restorative practices, we strive to create a safe and welcoming environment where all students can learn and grow.
Single School Culture
One School. One Standard. One Team.
At Sebastian Middle School, all staff members share responsibility for all students. Consistent expectations across classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and common areas help create a predictable and positive learning environment.
Behavior Expectations
Students are expected to SOAR
- Show Respect
- Own Your Actions
- Accept Differences
- Realize Potential
These expectations are taught, modeled, and reinforced throughout the school year through classroom instruction, assemblies, and daily interactions.
Progressive Discipline
When behavior concerns arise, we utilize a progressive discipline approach that focuses on learning, accountability, and growth. Interventions are designed to help students make positive choices while maintaining a safe learning environment.
Possible interventions may include:
- Teacher conferences
- Parent communication
- Behavior contracts
- Restorative conversations
- Administrative consequences
- Additional support services
Restorative Practices
When appropriate, students participate in restorative conversations and activities that encourage reflection, accountability, and relationship building. These practices help students understand the impact of their actions and develop strategies for future success.
Student Supports
Student success extends beyond academics. Sebastian Middle School offers a variety of supports to help students thrive, including:
- School Counseling Services
- Academic Intervention Programs
- Behavioral Supports
- Attendance Interventions
- Conflict Resolution Assistance
- MTSS Support Services
Our goal is to ensure every student has access to the resources and support needed to be successful both inside and outside the classroom.
