π 8th Grade Transition to High School: Parent Guide
Below is a step-by-step timeline of important events and opportunities to support your student in exploring high school programs and Career Academies.
β Step 1: Career Exploration
November 18 and 19 β In Civics & Career Planning Classes
Students complete Xello Career Testing (career, personality, and learning style assessments) and explore available high school Career Academies.Β They can also access Xello from home.
β Step 2: Middle School Blitz
December 2 β Sebastian Auditorium (Students Only)
District staff present Academy options via video and answer questions. Videos also available on the CTE website: https://cte.stjohns.k12.fl.us
β Step 3: High School Showcase
December 10 β World Golf Village Convention Center
For students & families: Meet Academy teachers, business partners, and current students to learn about district-wide programs.
β Step 4: Academy Nights at High Schools
Dates vary per school. See below for details
Attend your high schoolβs Academy Night for a closer look. Hear directly from teachers and students in a small group setting.
β Step 5: Applications Open
January 5-January 26, 2026
Apply on HAC (Home Access Center)
– Apply to Career Academies, SJCCA, or Academic Programs.
– AICE/IB applicants:
– SJCCA applicants: Prepare for auditions.
β Step 6: SJCCA Auditions
January 21, 2026 – St. Augustine High School
Students interested in Band, Dance, Drama, Digital Art, Chorus, Guitar, Piano, or Musical Theatre must audition. Visit www.sjcca.org for details.

– Students may apply to up to 3 Academies.
– Acceptance is through a lottery system with the exception of Accelerated Academies -AICE and IB
– Out-of-zone students must provide their own transportation.
